In 2006, Chris Hagen presented an entire month of Jazz and Blues at Broadie’s Tavern in Tianjin, China, featuring an American Jazz singer with a young band of recent music graduates. During the month of September, we ascertained that there is an audience for Jazz in Tianjin, composed of Chinese and foreign patrons. Hagen and his partners are serious about having a Jazz club here in Tianjin, China's third largest city (population: 10 million).

The young band is willing to learn Jazz music but has little opportunity because they have no professional Jazz or Blues musicians to model after, except in Beijing, two hours away. So, there is a definite NEED for the presence of professional and experienced Jazz and Blues musicians from other countries, in Tianjin.

Wang Tong International Music Center serves to teach young people Jazz music. There are 500 students in three schools, leaving a huge population of other students who may want to study and play Jazz music. Foreign Jazz musician who would come to Tianjin to live, perform and teach workshops could serve this population.

September is a good month to hold a festival/conference in Tianjin because the weather not too cold or too hot. In 2007, we chose the second week of September to kick-off this new festival that will include concerts in Beijing and a three-day music conference, in Tianjin, where music professors from around the world will lead clinics and workshops in Jazz and Blues for music students from China and the world.

The INTERTECH HOTEL will host the conference, scholars, musicians and nightly shows. A jam session and nightly shows will take place at Broadie’s. The Crystal Palace and Dickson Hotels will house visitors to the festival.

VISION + OPPORTUNITY + CAPITALIZATION = SUCCESS!

From the moment of birth, suffering pursues man in one form or another throughout life. If in all these ordeals, one has to maintain equanimity and peace, he has to lead a righteous life, with firm faith in God. There is no need to give up the normal duties of a student or a householder. But everything that is done should be done as an offering to God. Thereby, every ordinary act becomes sanctified. Love of God should express itself in the form of consecration of every action.
