DUKEDOM!!!
Edward "Duke" Ellington

In my book A HISTORY OF AFRICAN AMERICAN JAZZ AND BLUES, I set out to prove that Jazz and Blues is inherently AFRICAN AMERICAN. It is not African. It is not European. It is not American. It is AFRICAN AMERICAN music created in an atmosphere of human intolerance, European obsession with ownership and degradation of Africans in America. The text remarks in the following video spells out the absolute disrespect that Jazz Tzar George Wein has for African American musicians and Duke sets him straight, clearly. Watch the video and come to your own conclusions.

Note the black and white mixed audience.
Music is definitely a unifying force to be reckoned with.

My book illustrates that the innovations of African Americans were the result of their harsh experiences in America. Therefore, it is impossible for white bands to sound like black bands for this simple reason. They can only be imitators not innovators.
