TRUTH IS LIGHT. AFTER THE BAILOUT. . .

Here's my version of the TRUTH:

We must realize in our heart of hearts that the so-called "Dominant Culture" exists as a smoke screen to hide the valuable contributions people of color worldwide have made to this country and the planet. With the fall of Wall Street, the nomination of Obama and the rise of the consciousness of people of color, particularly Americans of Afrikan descent, which is, of course, alllll of the peoples on the planet, comes the opportunity to awaken to our most valuable asset: ourselves, the Gods and Goddesses that we are. There is a change a-comin' and we are on the brink of enlightenment. As spiritual activists, culture is the medium we have to use to awaken the divine in ourselves and others. Turn off the television, radio and stop reading the headlines and turn your focus inward as we explore the vast canvas of our being. We are HUMAN BEINGS not human doings. Our only responsibility is to awaken to the LIGHT within ourselves. All the trials and tribulations of the past have led us to this very MOMENT when we recognize our personal power as co-creators with the Universe. I AM, THAT I AM. Be the LIGHT that shines in the darkness!

Here's one sister's response to my post above:

Welcome to you Diva JC. I read your comment in the Women's Role group and I am very excited to hear more wisdom from you. You made me want to rededicate myself to the life commitment to reclaim our greatness and not stand for our accomplishments to be hidden. Thank you so much for such inspiring words.

Have a blacktastic day!!!

Wise words indeed, Joan!

Some of my Muslim friends have been very good at these reminders that the worst enemies we have are within ourselves.  Your statement goes even deeper -- it is not about combating weaknesses and temptations but affirming stength and Godliness, which I can more than relate to.  (It is -- if folks want to split theological hairs, which never makes sense because no argument can be "proven" in that realm -- the difference between consider ourselves to be "creations" by God or manifestations of God.  That quote from Marianne Williamson, which has been misattributed to Nelson Mandela is a great one; I think you know it and have it on your site.)

Stay strong, stay wise, stay inspired.  You do inspire others.

Best, Gene

This message contains three revealing links:

The one to hotpads shows the areas of the country most affected, at present, by the foreclosure crisis.

The Keating video is a timely reminder of the last time the taxpayers were jacked so seriously by greed and fraud in the banking industry.

The third one is the problematical one, which purports to be non-political, offers a very clear and sobering analysis of the financial crisis, but then goes on a nakedly political rant of the blame-the-victim sort, which, to say the least, and to say it politely, stretches credibility. (I was on guard the moment I read of how many hundreds of hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars this individual's group spends in order to bring us commoners sound financial advice for free.) Nonetheless, we need to be forewarned and forearmed against this assault on the propaganda front, which makes the poor, caring Bush administration look like the hapless victims of decisions made by imbecilic Democrats before them.

There is still a great unanswered question in all of this.  Is it not true that wealth -- financial wealth, at least -- like energy, is neither created nor destroyed, but only changes form or location? In other words, if so much wealth is being lost by so many people in so many places, does not the law of wealth dictate that what is being lost in one place or in one form, is being gained in another?  Either that is true, or the once-high value of homes, goods and services was only mythical, artificially inflated, and now everything is coming down to its true value. Which doesn't make any real sense either.  What the financial crisis looks like is a crisis in cash-FLOW, a kind of Catch-22 gridlock situation, but not an absolute absence of cash itself, so the question is, where is IT? And where is the U.S. government supposed to get this $700 billion for the supposed bailout of the banks (not the people) other than by borrowing it from banks? (It's not as if there's that much government-owned gold, for example, being put on the table as a guarantee of the government's good faith.) All of these naive questions prove that I am definitely no economist, and such ignorance might try the patience of a saint, but as just one more body trying to ride out this rising tsunami, I would sure appreciate some honest insight from people who know, and can point the way to a solution instead of just screwing with our minds by telling us how bad things are. (EVERYBODY, it seems, did not suffer through the Great Depression.  Some supposedly did quite well in spite of, or even because of it,  Conspiracy theorists -- they can always be counted upon -- have suggested that this was deliberately planned and orchestrated for that purpose.  Is that what is happening now?  A little truth would go a long way these days.)  -- DGT

A Conspiracy of Imbeciles Must read!

This is part of the garbage going around blaming the crash on Black Americans, when, truthfully, Black home defaults were only a small percentage of the total incurred. The majority of the defaults were mainly by White Americans who took advantage of the system (go to: http://hotpads.com check foreclosures across the U.S. Tell me Black folk live in all these communities). There have been such blatant discriminatory practices in the housing industry that the fed had to eventually step in. Once again as in most cases with any government program, be it welfare, housing or programs slated for minority endowment, White Americans have been the largest percentage of abusers and the first to point fingers at minorities.

Who are typically the real abusers of the system that we should be screaming about?
