THE FIRST GAIAFEST took place in Fort Lauderdale, FL, in March 1998 Two years later, Gaiafest was held at Old Dillard Museum in the Cannonball Adderly Jazz Room with these talented jazzwomen. Also, for 3 years, more than 5,000 children and college students benefited from our WOMEN IN JAZZ presentation at Broward Schools and Floria International University |

Joan Cartwright, M.A.
is the recipient of a $6,000 grant from the
School Board of Broward County Student Enrichment Trust Fund. She lectures
on The History of
Jazz and Blues with emphasis on
Women in Jazz.
This is Ms. Cartwright's second year receiving the SEAS grant. Her
lectures will be given at Broward County schools from November 1-17, 2000. |
